HI Scott,

I have noticed this same thing with some of my older seeds. They are smaller an often a bit slower to get going, but usualy once they have developed a couple sets of leaves they will get going. I try to keep mine a bit warmer and dryer than the rest. Do they have any true leaves yet? you could try a foliage spray of epsom salt water if they have some leaves. Hope this helps!

Old seeds, tiny seedlings ?

from Pepper_Rancher on 02/26/2015 09:34 PM

I recently planted about 300 of some old ghost pepper seeds that I have from years ago.
So far the germination rate is fairly low, and the seedlings that have sprouted seem TINY.  And they appear to be staying very small...  I have started ghost peppers from seed before and I dont remember being this small for this long, can this be a symptom of old seeds?
Should I correct with nutrients?  I already applied a very light sprinkling of 50% strength nutrients, do you think I should apply more?
Thanks for any advice!
Scott
