Seed saving

from ChrisCousineau on 03/23/2015 08:45 PM

I have gardened for some time, however I have not saved a lot of seeds and my pansys are blooming out and I would like to save some of the seeds so I don't have to go and buy more. So what do i do?

I bought 4 pansies this year. Two blue and two gold. I let a few of each go to seed. I prefer to dead head them so it was hard to let a few of them left alone and go to seed. It is almost too hot for them here now. Once it gets to about 80 degrees they poop out. The dead flower head will swell up while developing seeds. If you wait too long it will open up and spit out the seeds.

I was looking at your profile and noticed that you live in my hometown! Small world.

I don't actually live in Jax. It's just the closest city to me.
