from katjaqu on 04/23/2015 05:00 AM

I really love to do home canning and preserving.
I just found this website with recipes for making jellies with common flowers and plants.
Here's the link.

If you've checked out the link and seen the recipe for Ginger Bug and wondered what it is, it's for making homemade soda like root beer and ginger ale.
Most people made the Ginger Bug starter and kept it in a mason jar on the counter next to the sourdough starter.

It's a nice recipe to print out and keep in your self sufficient recipe binder.

We raised ducks and guinea fowl about twenty years ago.
One morning I went to feed them and found that the chicken wire fencing had been chewed through. Feathers were everywhere and all twenty ducks and fifteen guinea fowl were gone from the poultry yard.
Bits of reddish fur was all over the fence where it had been chewed open.
I thought at first it was raccoons because they had eaten our pet chicken but when we looked at the fur we figured they were foxes and not raccoons.

Hi Nicole,
I received the seeds yesterday and I want you to know that I really appreciate you them!
I'm a real squash fan!!
Thank you so much!

I'm still looking for your sunflowers. I was out shopping yesterday and looked wherever I seen non gmo seeds for sale. There were lots of sunflower seeds but not the ones on your list.

Hi,
I was just wondering if you received the seeds I mailed out to you on April 8.
I haven't received anything from you yet so I wanted to check.
I have sent you personal messages with no response.

Please let me know when I should receive the seeds from your end.
Thanks
Have a great week.
Kathy J.

That's nice. At least you know what is happpening next. It all seems to happen at once here. The azeleas bloom first, the trees green up, the dogwoods bloom and the pecan trees (last of everything) green up.

As far as I know they are all horticulturists. He should know about more than tobacco.

If it's an animal, I'm thinking maybe some sort of mole? problem, possibly. I can't see anything that looks like damage ON the ground so it would have to be a burrower.  There is an extension agent nearby; I know he will come out and check soil pH, etc. I would think he would have to know about various plants for his job, but he was originally located here for the tobacco farmers. He may be worth a shot, though :)
