Starting cukes/squash inside

from Backwoodswife on 03/31/2015 02:43 AM

Does anyone start these inside? My plant out date is 5/19 ish and I was thinking about starting these inside this year about 4 weeks before last frost. Wondering if anyone has any pros/cons on this? Thanks!

Sorry everyone, I am guilty of this as well! Things have been busy for me not much time to post, but I do check in pretty much every day to check messages and see what's new:) There has been alot of great people working hard to make this site work  we can't give up on it just yet:) Maybe seed trading is dying down, as planting time nears and there will be more excitment when things start popping up!

Hi Gina!

You did great! I have the Vicks plant on your list, it is sooo amazing! Fuzzy leaves, great scent, I could rub it all day  I can send you some when the weather is warmer. Just let me know:)

Re: What Tomatoes are you growing this year

from Backwoodswife on 03/02/2015 01:57 AM

We freeze, can and dry them, eat alot of salsa and give alot away to friends! I plan on doing about 150 plants in all.
This year I am going to try freezing some, skins and all fresh from the garden, I usually blanch them first but have read fresh works really well. Anyone try this before? About 4 years ago we began freezing our other veggies (beans, turnips, summer squash, etc...) without blanching first, I am so happy we did! They last all winter and taste better than they did when we were going through all that work to blanch them!
