Starting cukes/squash inside

from Backwoodswife on 03/31/2015 02:43 AM

Does anyone start these inside? My plant out date is 5/19 ish and I was thinking about starting these inside this year about 4 weeks before last frost. Wondering if anyone has any pros/cons on this? Thanks!

Started in a cold frame outside before but never inside the house.
I haven't had much success starting seeds inside. They always seem to fragile when I start them inside.

I always planted my seeds right in the ground for cukes. Squash I start outside in pots. You could try. The only way I know what works for me in my zone is to experiment. Everyone has different results. I watch people buy them in the garden centers already started.

Try using new paper pots so you can just plant without disturbing the roots. Also if they start outgrowing the pot you could put them in a bigger pot.
