GROWING OKRA
from katjaqu on 02/24/2015 11:12 PMI usually wait until after Mother's Day to plant my okra so there's no danger of frost.
I usually direct sow four okra seeds per hole 14" apart where they will get full sun for most of the day.
I water my garden at night when the sun is not hitting on them.
They will get a flower and then a pod will a will appear when the flower falls off.
You will need to pick them when they are no larger than 3" to 4" long.
If they grow larger than that leave them on the stalk to mature until fall and you can harvest the seed.
The seed pod will be brown and woody and will be ready to harvest.
Cut the seed pods off the stalk and allow to dry. Remove the seeds and dry in an aluminum pie plate for about 14 days.
I usually put them in a glass canning jar and label with the name "Clemson Spineless Okra" and the harvest year.

from howconnie on 02/27/2015 06:22 AMDo you thin your seedlings or just let them grow in a cluster

You will want to thin them because okra is a pretty big plant.
