WINEMAKING: Wild Violet Wine
von katjaqu am 08.04.2015 06:36As some of you know, I have been making wine for the last couple of years.
One of the wines that I started last spring was Wild Violet Wine made with the little blue violets from my yard.
I love to make things with the plants that grow on our property whenever I can. I found a recipe online for the wine so when the flowers were ready to pick I decided to give it a try.
I made about a gallon using one whole packet of Lalvin EC 1118 wine yeast.
After it was bottled I let it sit on it's side in the wine rack for about ten months.
We opened a bottle about a week ago.
I was really happy with the way it turned out.
It was well worth the time and work that went into it.
This is something that I will be making every year now that I know how good it is.
There is a very small window to harvesting the flowers and making this wine.
If you decide to make it you will need to have everything on hand before the flowers are ready.
Once you pick the flowers you will need to see it through so the flowers stay fresh.
Use only the blue flower petals and not the green parts of the plant.
Here is the link for the recipe.

Re: DIY self watering container
von Backwoodswife am 07.04.2015 10:14Loved the video, tried to like it but not sure it worked, subscribed to your videos though:) One question, did the roots fill out the top of the tote? Just wondering if a plant of that size could be grown in a smaller version of this type,
if you are using hydro nutes in the water.
