Wash With White Vinegar After Handling Hot Peppers to Stop Burning
from katjaqu on 04/01/2015 04:42 AMDon't know if many people know this.
If you wash your hands with white vinegar after handing hot peppers it will stop them from burning. I also use it to clean utensils that have come into contact with them.
The oil in the peppers is not water soluble so soap and water have no effect on it.
The white vinegar cuts through the oil and washes it away.
I have a soft soap dispenser filled with white vinegar on my kitchen sink in case I need it quickly.
Don't put vinegar near your eyes.
Re: HAVE: Horseradish Plant Root
from katjaqu on 04/01/2015 04:16 AMReally? That's great!
I've haven't even planted mine yet because of this crazy weather. It snowed here a couple of days ago and today it was in the 70's
I wondered how long the growing season is where you are. If I lived there I would be growing oranges!
Do you want anymore peanuts? I have more than enough to plant so if you can use anymore just let me know.
I think sending the root shouldn't be more than 4 stamps.
I have plenty of bubble mailers.
When you plant the Horseradish root you will need to use a deep pot or bucket.
Let me know if you want it so I can get it before the lawnmower does.
I think my husband plans to run the mower this weekend and it will make it hard to find with all the other green stuff coming up in the field.
HAVE: Horseradish Plant Root
from katjaqu on 04/01/2015 02:29 AMHave horseradish plant root to share if you want to cover the cost of postage.
Re: Starting cukes/squash inside
from katjaqu on 03/31/2015 04:38 AMStarted in a cold frame outside before but never inside the house.
I haven't had much success starting seeds inside. They always seem to fragile when I start them inside.
Re: wow no one comes on here anymore
from katjaqu on 03/31/2015 04:25 AMHi Lisa,
I know that's how it's been for me.
The week you started the website I was snowed in my house for ten days and had plenty of time to post and send emails.
When the weather turned a little warmer I was playing catch up on everything that needed to be done outside.
I haven't lost interest I've just had quite a bit to do.
I really think this is more than just a place to swap seeds.
It is somewhat of a community, which is a nice feeling.
I know in order to get messages you have to check in regularly or you might miss something.
I guess some people get busy and just don't think about it.
Just like the garden it takes time and work to get it growing, but it's all worth it in the end.
Just remember "Give Peas a Chance" or something like that.
